The movies, even if they are awful, won't ruin it for you, Tuck. It would make it harder to get people to try it out for the first time, however.

Message in a Bottle is a great episode: it introduces the Hirogen, who aren't terrible as an enemy, and I like the ending when they realize Starfleet knows they are still alive and kicking.
It won't take long to cover Firefly. Poor Zach is going to have to do all seven seasons of TNG, and we're pestering him for DS9 now. He'll be covering Star Trek until he's 89.
