I can see how those plots could be good in theory, they just got too dramatic or cliched. For a show grounded in reality and emotional balance, it was off-beat.

Indeed. If this episode (which appears to be more or less a stand-alone, bottle) can grab at least a 0.6, then Bunheads could be in business for renewal.
It was the other way around in Season 1, but now this is right, and justifiably so. Daphne has a dark side and is a shade of Sarah Braverman with her relationships (then again, the entire show — outside of its good themes around parenting — goes around faulty relationships).
Also, I partially disagree about the "consensual" issue. Ellie not wanting sex pretty much ever with Andy (or at least nagging about not wanting it) is a running gag with the show. I mean, Andy is a lap-dog mostly, and Ellie clearly knows that. Plus Andy understands Ellie enough that he realizes when her desires are…
Half-baked. I still love hanging out with the characters, but the emotional beat of the show that made it special over the past two years isn't there. You could call the ending of tonight's episode sweet (I guess), but it just didn't really evoke anything from me outside of pleasant smiles.
Although, this whole "hotness" promo could help boost ratings for next week, which would be a godsend.
If ABC Family didn't have The Fosters up the pipeline, I'd say that Bunheads would come back despite the slumping ratings. The former show seems like a perfect programming fit with SaB, and ABC Family can launch a Wednesday block with Twisted) (formerly Socio) and Terminales (presuming it gets picked up, which it…
CAN TBS SAVE IT?????…..!!!!!!
The irrational hatred was there before Cozette invited Mel to roller derby (at the Oyster Bar), IIRC.
They'll have a robot-building competition first, then do a model plot, then a school orchestra plot.
I definitely see the cartoony-angle, but I think that adds to Foster's charm. Foster's quite good with the dialog and pop-culture bits, and that's considering the Gilmore Girls-standard.
If only Smash cast someone like Sutton Foster instead of McPhee…
I envision the Neighbours being like CBS' Rules of Engagement. Ergo, I doubt it'd hold any sort of audience on Friday.
[SPOILER WARNING]
In the season finale, Michelle does sneak away to an audition. No idea if anything comes of it, but given the stasis of the show, either she's successful and goes briefly, or isn't successful again.
I did like that reaction too, but it just came out of the blue. I find Cozette immediately being a Bunhead when the character was introduced being problematic, and I think the casting of Jeanine Mason wasn't a particularly inspired choice either.
All four bunheads (in real life) are as accomplished now than I could ever be in my lifetime. It's just not fair.
Fanny watch: Still "out of the country".
ABC Family Tuesdays are the bane of human existence.
The show isn't a lock for renewal given its sagging ratings. If they do plan on running in the summer, they'll need to have a decision soon.
It's eerie how similar they look.
