@JMP: I would vote for Blues Brothers/Chicago, too. On my one and only trip to Chicago so far, all I could think of were places and shots from that movie, followed immediately by the appropriate dialogue. It was an unintended pilgrimage — I had totally forgotten the movie had been set there.

@Rowan — Spurred by your reviews and the recent pulling of VM from Netflix, I started going further into the series. Then, I got stuck trying to find spoiler free places to read about the episodes I've seen.

@ Persia — me, too. With Zach Braff and Jeff Daniels, perhaps. It was really weird to discover that this was real.

I'll admit that I would love to watch this show, but I don't have Adult Swim/cable, and when I've tried using the Adult Swim online video offerings, it's been a royal pain in the ass. (I can't imagine it's worth hunting down torrents for.)

The Chicago stuff will be very boring for the AV Club folks, but for the few days I was there, all I could think of were movies I had seen filmed where I was. Ferris Bueller; Untouchables; etc. I've been to NYC and Toronto and Philly, but none hit me quite as hard as those spots in Chicago.

the comparisons . . .
between the movie and Foley's current life seem a little close. Granted, I've not seen the film, and I'm pretty sure Foley's not on the run for "murder", but both IRL and in the film, he can't really go back to his old life. The golden boy who went to seed. Maybe The Wrong Guy is oddly

Yay @ AOP. That's the first thing I thought of when I read the index. And I couldn't remember the 2nd concept — it was killing me.

Yes — after they spend hours fruitlessly searching for work; filling out idiotic online applications; and pulling their hair out dealing with formatting, resumes, and internet searching . . .

Most likely, it would be in partnership with an existing electronic lending library that has already gotten library patrons used to "borrowing" digital books, music, etc.(like Overdrive Media) Or maybe Amazon will undercut them, and create a separate digital content provider that libraries will have to pay to

Oddly enough, I actually do all of this with my Mac plugged into a TV sized monitor. Hulu (new stuff only); Netflix; Comcast On Demand; etc. I've never understood the exact nature of the problems Noel and others write about, but that's my house cut the cord a long time ago, maybe before it was a name/phenomenon.

This is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black here . . .
Chinese history is full of "casually [made] up myths, [with] monstrous and weird plots, us[ing] absurd tactics, and even promot[ing] feudalism, superstition, fatalism and reincarnation." (adapted from the NYT quote.)

My first double post. Damn. Wish I had written something more pithy, worthy of repetition.

Noel . . .
seems to review these sexplotation movies a lot for this feature. As if by writing about them, he can justify having seen them. (And share them with similar minded folk.)
"No, it's just work. Really."

Call me a convert . . .
Or at least someone willing to testify. I have never seen them before live. Still haven't — closest I've come is checking out Pitchfork's live broadcast. Before, I've liked a few of their songs — particular the ones that remind me of Talking Heads making new music (like "Home" most of all.)

disappointed tester here
I've been an avid AllMusic user and beta tester for about a decade now — not that they always took my advice. They invited me to help test Rovi, but I don't think I was their target audience this time. However, if you thought the redesign several years back was bad, I think you may not like

Totally agree with Noel here. Most kids love Superman and Batman, et al, almost instinctively. But stories for young kids with Superman in them aren't being written anymore. My son was really excited to read All-Star Superman — 'cause hey, it's Superman! — but the high-concept writing and wonderful sci-fi themes

Another thumbs up for biking and listening to music. (It's completely safe, and masks awful external noise at the same time.)
Some favorites that are forever associated with cycling around Boston for me: Segundo by Juana Molina (all her background frippery makes me feel like ghosts are lurking around every turn,

@BK — I thought so, too. As I waited for his site to load, I wondered if I was heading to a hentai site — albeit one with a sense of animation in history.
And whether or not my work filters would let it through.
