lol like i haven't listened to the gap band. but the dude is 60 years old, he sounds it, and the gap band was always at their best on the uptempo party stuff like "burn rubber" etc. this melodramatic, self-important 2-bar slice of cheese has nothing to do with the gap band.

That Charlie Wilson hook is one of the top 5 cheesiest moments on the album. The guy's voice is a joke.
