In all fairness, some of us are okay with you guys.

I'd be more excited if he managed to wring a full-length set out of the David Bowie song.

My wife is my best friend, but let's face it, I don't have a lot of friends.

Mark Claire was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clairemens.

For you, maybe. Me, conspiracy theory is the one thing for which I have both an irrational, blind hatred and a completely rational, justifiable hatred. So… it's a bit of a stumbling block. Honestly, a lot of the rest of the stuff I could look past as either the prevailing views of his times or a character flaw, but

As a happily married man, I can see this. I've often said, only half jokingly, that living with my wife is the price I pay for having a wife. If there was a plausible way to have a wife most of the time, but still be able to shut myself in my room for a few days at a time should I so desire, I'd be up for that.

His stand-up isn't much like that, though. Have you seen his stand-up?

That's the danger of trying to pontificate on things via stand-up… a lot of it would be treated as embarrassing in any other forum (e.g. essentialist "men do a thing, women do another thing" stuff), and even the things that are potentially interesting suffer due to a variety of reasons. Keeping the audience laughing

Conversely, I see Carlin as a guy who could be smug or reductive at times (and, on an unrelated note, wasn't always that funny, especially in his later years) but had a basically sound view of the world, and Hicks as a guy whose anger and rampant insecurity led him to be suckered into some pretty major blind alleys

Yeah. Even Bearsuit is down to a five-piece these days.

a) 4, but singer/rhythm guitarist, keyboard, bass, drums. Lead guitar is for chumps.
b) 8. Singer/guitarist, singer, singer, guitarist, keyboardist/singer, keyboardist, bassist, drummer. (Give or take.)

I don't even know if the New Pornographers count, though? I know several of them were and are in other bands, but with the exception of Neko Case and maybe Dan Bejar (whose solo career was nascent at best in 2000), aren't all of them primarily known for being in the New Pornographers?

I met my wife on OKCupid. Also, I have a wife. That's just weird.

House of Pies.

Oh, I know she does stand -up, but her stand-up is kind of… writerly, I think. I mean, it's not driven by charisma or anything. Not that she lacks charisma, but… eh, whatever, I don't even know what point I was making any more.

The ratings for Parks this year are actually a full 25% higher than the ratings for 30 Rock, and trending upward. (And that's counting the spike for the 30 Rock series finale.) Community is almost as far ahead of 30 Rock — it's not likely to stay THAT far ahead, but it did better at 8:00pm Thursdays last year than 30

Ah — you see, I don't watch Louie. That's good to hear. I mean, either way I'm rooting for her, because I always want to see stand-up comics do well in acting.

It's an interesting choice — she's a good writer, but I never really saw her as a performer. I suppose she auditioned, though, so I suppose she deserves a shot.

Community's probably coming back unless ratings plummet. Parks is pretty much the safest thing on the whole NBC lineup right now.

Institutionalized? But all they wanted was a fucking Peretti!
