It's definitely a heck of a lot of fun to watch live. I went to an Avs game with my dad a couple of years ago, and even though neither of us know jack about hockey, and it was a fairly routine game, it was a blast to watch. If you're on the fence about hockey, do yourself a favor and get tickets to see it live.

I don't follow MLB as much as the NFL, but I don't mind Buck and Aikman that much (much, much better than Phil Simms and Jim Nantz IMO). Given the ever-present hatred for Buck on MLB I've got to concur that there's something different there. He's fairly bland when calling an NFL game, but he doesn't sound like he just

Steroids have definitely been shown to directly increase mucle and skeletal growth, and increase strength. HGH is a bit trickier. It may increase strength, but it's primary benefits seem to be in reducing fat, speeding workout / injury recovery, and possibly increasing resistance to injury.

the puck thing was OK, except for the weird trails thing it did whenever there was a shot on goal. That was a bit half-baked. I think it would've caught on had HDTV not made it irrelevant, because seeing the puck IS a problem when you're watching hockey on SD tv. It's barely worth watching on SD IMO, becuase if you

Every winning coach interview at halftime:

She obviously never even watched "Amok Time". Shame on you, Dr Crusher - Amok Time is a classic ep!

@ haysoos - what software do you use to merge your audio files? I've yet to find one that does it as well as itunes, which I don't use anymore. I've got serveral albums I'd like to merge into one track, but I can't find a way to do it well, with no audible separation where the tracks were. even when you play an album

the Sennheiser mx-470's are fairly small and come with 3 sizes of silicone adapters to fit various ears. the smallest size or just leaving the adapter off altogether would probably work for small ears (you can buy the foam style earbud covers on ebay real cheap if the earbuds fall out without the adapters). Just a

I'm a bit wary of anything that's branded by a celebrity. If beats by dre headphones were that good they wouldn't need his endorsement. there are plenty of lesser-hyped brands out there that likely provide abetter value. I'm partial to the Sennheiser HD-280 myself, which are in a similar price range. They've been

No, nobody really prefers poor quality sound. There's a reason why people preferred the crackling analog sound of turntables over early CD's - the quality of the sound was potentially higher than that of CD's at the time. CD sound quality improved pretty quickly as manufacturers learned to master the CD's properly for

Nah, I say go ahead and listen to headphones while cycling in traffic.

I've got to agree with sound nerd; I avoid .mp3's like the plague. .WMA's and AACs are noticeably better, particularly at lower bit rates. 256k .mp3's are decent enough, and I'll purchase those from Amazon for songs that I'd rather not purchase on CD. But I'll take a 192k .wma or a CD over an .mp3 any day of the week.

@ Prole hole - absolutely agree, Sennheisers are the way to go. I've got a pair of HD280 Pro's for listening to music at home or when flying, and they sound absolutely wonderful. for work and the gym, I've got a couple pairs of MX 470's, which you can get on amazon for about $16 these days. They sound great (for

@Richelieu - that's what he gets for paying too much attention in Colorado History class! The thing about the ancient oceans seems to be one of those little facts that sticks in my head from having it repeated every year during elementary school. It's somewhere in between the fact that Aurora used to be called

Before you start thinking TOO lowly of us 'mericans, keep in mind that the turducken is one of those things that people talk about but may or may not really exist. Personally, I've never known anyone who's actually cooked a turducken. It's only famous because it's such a ridiculous idea, and John Madden had one made

@ fresh - I disagree; to me, the menu is the worst part of going to cheescake factory. It takes too damn long to get through the whole thing, and once I do, I've seen about 5 items that sound like they'd be good enough, but none that seem like something I'd really like to eat. And there's no single restaurant that's

Holy Shit!
The guy with the bonsai tree scuplture in his beard wins the internet today! (7th picture in the following link: http://www.huffingtonpost.c…

You've got a point there, Bfred. I'll gladly paint the whole fucking house twice over if I just don't have to have anything to do with picking out the goddamn color. I tried that once, and ended up with a room that was painted baby-shit brown and electric blue (don't ask me how it happened, but I swear those colors

I think it's almost inevitable that there'll be another Trek series at some point. the built-in audience is just too much of a draw. Enterprise and the last couple TNG movies put ST out of favor for a while, but it would only take one or two more successful movies before Paramount execs start seeing dollar signs.

TNG's in a catch-22 here. They're serialized enough that the audience is not going to accept significant changes to randomly occur off-screen. That works well enough in sitcoms (think Jerry's girlfriends on Seinfeld), but there's a higher burden of proof for the audience to buy that sort of thing on a more serious,
