I would say they that at it's best, that style is designed to present information so that the viewer can take away whatever they want.  I think the way that Grey Gardens can be read as kind of condescending and exploitative or a celebration of the Beales is a successful result.  That being said, if the viewer doesn't…

That's what really blew me away with the Kony 2012 video.  Despite being so short, the filmmaker managed to get as much facetime as Morgan Spurlock would in 90 minutes.  Inspiring!

There are tons of people on here like me who would've been outraged if Jurassic Park or Shawshank Redemption made it onto the list, but we aren't saying anything because there is nothing to say.  You didn't discover some huge disconnect so much as you discovered the fact that people have different opinions sometimes.
