That's funny. I wasn't thinking about the music in those terms, but the composition of that shot of the half plastic looking back up singers reminded me of the cover of Trans Europe Express.
I think DI is just too weird and it makes them hard to talk about in a thing like this that is trying to tie things together and make some bigger claims. I don't really know what the original poster is trying to get at, but here is my cranky gripe.
To be fair, the bit seems to be making fun of lame joke comments, not anti-scharpling comments. It seems to be more in the spirit of making the 20th person in an unfunny thread feel bad for making corny jokes, which is something that I 100% support.
