Jay Chandrasekhar's direction was a big help in making this one the best of the season.  His episodes are some of my favorites.  And it would be pretty cool to see Broken Lizard as a rival to the study group but oh well…

Total agreement here even though the Swartzwelder era continues to be my high point of the show.
One way a show gets better is by throwing a huge change (an affair/breakup, main character death, crime) into the mix and watching how the characters develop through the event and aftermath, 
The Simpsons can't really work

Speaking of appreciating the attention to details, I don't know if it's been going on all 8 episodes but after God asked for Skittles, the first Kroll Show logo was a Skittles wrapper and after the ref asks about their favorite Will Smith movie, the first logo was the Fresh Prince graffiti tag.

1,  It wasn't a talk or game show.
2.  It wasn't a straight-out parody of a specific courtroom show.
3.  It was totally surreal (except for Bobby M).
4.  Each over-the-top moment was well-timed and seemed to escalate.
5.  It had some breaking, which added a little unpredictability.
6.  It actually had an ending, with the

Justin Kirk said on Comedy Bang Bang that it's up in the air whether the monkey is a doctor or not so I'm going with the surreal choice that he is an actual vet in the confines of the show.
