Ummmm, I think you might have the wrong audience. This is the AV Club. "Compatible TV show preferences" is pretty much the only solid foundation for a relationship.

Ok @Sleeper99999:disqus I'm either hallucinating the past fortnight or you've been true to your name and missed the whole discovery thing at the LHC? It was kind of a big deal, lead story in most major media outlets around the world?

I was going to write "God bless America," but it seems more British.

I liked some of it too, but I thought it was an incredibly awkward episode in so many ways. And actually, the more we go on, the more I'm disliking the 'alternative historical reporting' - tonight's especially because of the 'event' (see my long rant above). I have more thoughts on the matter to collect at another

Also acceptable: how an idealistic newsroom *effects* discourse.

Nah, I think this misses the whole point about "focusing on the issues that are important while others focus on what's popular" angle, which I think is good. I think the show does it reasonably well (easy with hindsight of course) in justifying why the issues are important, but how it actually then pursues them is

@olivececile:disqus Yep, I think it was that exchange where I felt like she was being perfectly set up to say "I'm giving people what they want, what gives you the right to say that's wrong?" I feel like there's a middle ground that would be fascinating to duke it out on (and have Will win of course because I agree

Here's a good a place as any to jump in on my thoughts on the sexism.

I think Plumberduck was being facetious, but I did chortle at peekay's 'judgemental douche' retort. Pie for all?

"The show has come on too fast" - wow, so true. That nails it. I can't believe we're only at episode 4 and already the two love plots feel tired and worn. It's occurred to me that the jumping forward months at a time not only robs us of the chance to 'get to know' these people in real-time (ie. getting to watch their

I like elements of it. I conceptually like Will's character as the bullish, abrasive, intelligent, centre-right free speaker who calls bullshit when he sees it. I thought the dismissal of criticisms of Obama's gun stance and India trip was strong. Jeff Daniels' performance is outstanding, even if he occasionally has
