1080p isn't half to 1/4 the resolution of film though, unless you're talking IMAX.  A typical 2K film scan is 2048x1152 (or so…), compared to 1920x1080 for 1080p.  So, if you 're super close to an FX shot on a crystal clear LED it will probably look shittier than being yards away on a big, dim theater screen.
