Benedict Cumberbatch is way too successful now to be the Doctor, anyway. He's reached the "playing the villain in Hollywood blockbusters" level of fame which is pretty much as high as a british actor can go.

I don't think he'd be a very good fit, he's really great at playing the straight man, but the Doctor needs to be the crazy one. I could see Martin Freeman being a great companion, but that's basically what he's doing in Sherlock already.

I read that he was basically in second place last time around, he was going to be the next Doctor until Matt Smith auditioned. I'm not sure if that would make him more or less likely this time around.

I'm pretty sure Ejiofor is getting too successful to be called back to Who, he's starring in movies and things now. Personally, I'm hoping for Adrian Lester or Paterson Joseph.
