I didn't think it was a big deal. He only did it once in a (relatively) non-consequential moment, and the film had basically the same reaction you did: "Oh, huh. That happened."

It's honestly the first episode that felt like it would have fit in with the other three seasons, but it would have probably been the worst episode in any of those seasons.
