I thought "The Arbor" was going to be a biopic / documentary about the author of "The Arbor" and her creative process, and it sort of was, but not at all in the ways I expected.

Good call on "High and Low." The only Kurosawa I'd seen before had samurai in them, so I thought that was all he did.

I can see that. I was distracted by how much I thought Kirsten Dunst's character was awful when she (SPOILER) had sex with the random guy on the golf course on her wedding night. I forgot that in the end, von Trier wanted us to think that her nihilism was the right viewpoint all along. So sex, marriage, her career,

I liked Dogville. I am highly amused by all of the uninformed hate against von Trier in this thread, since the anti-Americanism in Dogville is from a man who has never actually been to America.

I'm with you, that was too much. But at least it wasn't pierced to her in some awful manner, which is what you'd have expected from the von Trier of Antichrist.

Your vocal, uninformed opinion has made the world a better place. I hope you are a registered voter.

This movie's going to suck. There's a lot of things I like about von Trier's films, but his sexual themes are not among them. Dogville, Antichrist, and Melancholia all had some gratuitous scenes that brought the movie down. Especially Antichrist.

"I haven't actually seen a von Trier film, but everything I've heard about him and his work make it sound like I need to make an uninformed comment about him on the internet."

Another Earth was my favorite film from last year, so I will give this a shot.

Rabin and Modell are from Shorewood. Now it all makes sense.

To the main point, that "white" shouldn't be a pejorative, that seems obvious and everyone should agree (or at least realize that it's a lazy way of stating a true criticism). I'd extend it to "Christian," which sounds like the opposite of what people are saying about "Girls," but there is a LOT of overlap between

"boarding facility for dogs"

George Washington doesn't like assassins… or men of low character.

Since the "A" grade is obviously uncontroversial, I'll ask this question: why "worldly?"

You should be embarrassed if you're an adult and you ONLY read "young adult" or children's fiction. What would you think of an adult who only watches "Hannah Montana" and Disney movies?

"It's okay for adults to buy and read children's books," says man who writes children's books.

EDIT: Eh, reread my comment and realized I was a dick so I just deleted it. Move along.

If you're only going to say "fuck" once, having Michael Keaton shout "Nice fucking model!" before honking his crotch is the way to do it. Now I realize what Tim Burton's Batman movies were missing.

THE TITANIC WAS AN INSIDE JOB. TAFT LIED PEOPLE DIED.

Guy Pearce kinda looks like Mark Wahlberg in that picture. I kept reading the review waiting to find out what character Mark Wahlberg played.
