Because I didn't buy a horror book for a bunch of sound effects. I bought it to see what happens. Having all the good stuff happen offstage is unsatisfying in its own ways. This was the biggest problem with Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity. Without the monster, you have no real climax.

In the giant spider's defense: King has a quote somewhere, where he talks about the problems horror writers deal with. The biggest is that the monster you create in your head (before the climax where you actually see the monster) is always going to be the scariest thing you can imagine. Any monster he writes

For me it's another King movie: Misery. To this day I have never seen the end of it. I'm always so completely unnerved that I have to turn it off.

No no, it was before the quickfire even started, as they were filing into the room, and continued playing as they introduced the host. It had a bass-heavy, measured sound.

I don't think potato gnocchi has ever gone over well in top chef. They always complain that it's too dense where gnocchi should be light and fluffy, and then they slam them. But otherwise, I agree. Add some good cheese and you're halfway there.

New music?
And because I'm on a posting roll, did anyone notice the new music at the quickfire this episode? Have they ever swapped it out before? It was a nice change.

Eli was entertaining this week.
Usually I ignore him, but in addition to the comments about vegetarians being lesser people, he also had the endearingly shocked "Hot damn!" exclamation when he was in the top three. And watching him kick a trashcan after Mike was kicked off was fun too.

There were no such limits. Collichio's blog says they were encouraged (ENCOURAGED!) to use dairy and eggs, and they chose not to. I can't imagine what they were all thinking. Dairy and eggs would have gone a long way toward getting you a protein-rich, satisfying dinner. Sad week all around.

I am now a fan of Mischa Barton!
I don't think I've ever seen her in anything except Sixth Sense (and I'm not even sure who she was in that movie, maybe the sick dead girl?), but I looked her up after this interview and I'm really rooting for her. There's just something so awesome about her being so upfront about her

Surprisingly few car themed songs listed. Me, I have two:

Agreed. Shirin had a couple really great outfits. Christopher should have been instantly eliminated and forbidden from ever doing fashion again based solely on his bubble dress from last week.

I never thought I'd say it, but I agree he's improving. Even his canned hairy armpit line actually seemed somewhat useful, and not too obnoxious. I did not have the urge to punch him in the face even once, which is amazing.

According to Collichio's blog, he was kicked off for having absolutely no flavor. Laurine screwed up on her rillette, but her sides were good, and at least she had something that tastes like something. Hearing his description of Ash's dish, it sounds like Ash basically just cooked up a piece of meat and put it on

I agree with both of you. Giordana definitely deserved the win on the newspaper challenge. She made something that looked like clothes (clothes! out of newspaper!). Everyone else made newspaper costumes.

I loved the crap out of that movie when I was a kid. I seriously must have watched it 10 times.

So, just one then? Alright I guess I'll take it.

Huh. I'm the exact opposite. I want more like the window song, or take a bow, that I've never heard before and are relatively good. I could definitely do without more "single ladies."

Yes. I couldn't believe she said "three of the most annoying Bravo reality show cast members". Fabio was always highly entertaining and likable. I'll probably check out an episode or two, though I doubt I'll do more.
