I think you're right about the number.  The number than the guy from The Onion took was 60.  Apparently, the doctors were baffled that he survived.  He downed them with a bottle of scotch.  
My guess is that if ten people each knock back 60 xanax and a bottle of scotch, 7 or 8 of them aren't waking up.

I think it comes down to how much you take.  One of the early writers for The Onion was on Maron's WTF podcast and he tried to kill himself with Xanax.  It probably doesn't help my point that he was unsuccessful, but he "did the research," if you will, and found that a lot of Xanies and a bottle of booze is usually…

I think you use "peak" when combined with "my interest" however.  As in:
