I too thought of "Beyond the Black Rainbow" (which I really love) during "The Neon Demon". There wasn't really much humor in the film (though I thought Keanu was kinda funny) so I think your audience was doing that nervous laughter thing that crowds do during ultra-serious movies.

Who won? How did it end?

I don't know, but before I read one word of this interview I was already glad to see that the interviewee at least had a background in music. The endless string of unfunny comedians had to stop somewhere.

The 4 Non Blondes song is called "What's Up". The awesome Marvin Gaye song is called "What's Going On".

This is probably of interest to very few, but fans of early Pearl Jam might remember that the songs "Once", "Alive" and "Footsteps" were meant as a trilogy of sorts; in "Alive" the guy has a fucked-up childhood, in "Once" he becomes a serial killer, and in "Footsteps" he is on death row. Anyway, Eddie Vedder said that

"I Never" is a great song, the quick a cappella peak is perfect.

She and the Watson Twins did a handful of shows together early this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Rabbit Fur Coat. I fortunately went to a show in LA, it was at a Presbyterian church. It was awesome.

Yeah, considering how much I love Jenny, it's sad how little I've listened to that album. It's just flat, mainly because of Johnny. "Scissor Runner" and "Big Wave" are dope though.

Sometimes it snows.

"I'll buy anything that Jenny is involved in for the rest of her career"

I love the one where he claps when a Nazi juggles oranges.

Wait, a Savages show was included!?! Awesome. I'm seeing them for the second time soon, and the first time was amazing.

Daisy……Daisy……..

Amelia is my favorite Joni song.

50 Cent is a terrible rapper whose whole career was built on a carefully constructed image.

Awesome fuckin' movie. Creeped me out big-time in the theater, can't wait to see it again.

He's still a real actor.

As another poster pointed out, Holmes just looks too young. It reeks of convenient Hollywood casting as opposed to getting someone that looks like they could bear the part (an important attorney in a major city). I also think she's mediocre at best in the part, and none of this has to do with who she was married to or

The first 45 minutes are the best long stretch in Nolan's Batman series*. The training sequence is outstanding, and I love all of Neeson and Bale's interactions ("you've sacrificed position for a killing stroke"). We groan now about comic "origin stories" but I thought this one was done beautifully.

I agree re: 2001. It's not bad.
