Couldn't he just go give him some money and have him leave the country or something? Maybe then kill him? I do buy that he panicked but that just seemed really sloppy.

It's been a long time since I read the stores but didn't Watson and his wife move to South America for a while then he returned after her death? Or am I mixing him with Arthur Hastings? This is the sort of thing that happens when you get old. I don't recommend it if you can avoid it. I guess I need to read the books…

I think I basically agree with all of that. But in the future if you are going to hit us with a wall of text some blank lines mixed in would make it easier to read.
