My favorite cliffhanger is from the Hartnell story, Planet of the Giants. At the end of Ep. 1, the Doctor and companions are about to be killed by a giant cat. Oh no! At the beginning of Ep. 2, the cat just wanders off. "He's going over there! Problem solved!"

He's also got a clone daughter running around the universe somewhere (Tenant's wife, right?). What happened to her?

Recently I discovered the British panel show, Would I Lie to You?, and watched a bunch of episodes on Youtube. I'm a little obsessed with this show, because it seems like I should be able to tell the difference between a true story and a ridiculous lie…but I can't, apparently.

I'm not sure there's anything stable or defined about Clara's character at all (which is to say, she's not really a character, just a person who's on Doctor Who a lot). You could easily describe what Rose, Martha, Donna, River Song, et al. are all about, but if you had to list Clara's characteristics, it would be

The Loch Ness monster is the Zygons' pet, and they need its milk to survive! How could they forget this weird-ass bit of 70s Who lore?

Now I know one thing about Turkmenistan.

Like Clara, I learned about Truth or Consequences, New Mexico from a Trivial Pursuit question.

The moon is NOT an egg! Come on, people!

I was sure that they were setting up a joke in the playground scene…Doctor scares little girls who are not Zygons, concerned parents chase him away.

I guess it's a bit passé, but Classic Who episodes always ended on a cliffhanger. And the next one always began with the Doctor slipping out of whatever trap he was caught in last week.

Indiana Jones and His Hat and His Whip

Interestingly, the word for raccoon in other languages is derived from their food-washing habit: Waschbär (washing bear) in German, raton laveur (washing rat) in French, etc.

"Harder than You Think" is on one of the mixes I listen to when I run. I've heard it ten zillion times…I didn't know the back story, that it was an example of PE selling out. Oh well.

I'm reading these stories and thinking, "maybe they usually become uncontrollable, but it would be different if I had a raccoon pal. We'd watch TV and eat Doritos together. It would be awesome."

Foxes are not so adorable for farmers. A fox will kill all the chickens in your coop in one go.

The colloquial terms couldn't possibly be clearer (since one obviously knows whether the critter one is talking about is American or Australian). To say that "possum" is wrong (when opossum is meant) is as boneheaded as saying that "chips" for french fries is wrong.

(What the fuck is an owlbear? Is that in the Monster Manual?)

I'll Silmarillion you in hell!

Gimli a break.

These puns are terrible. You should be ashamed of yours-elves.
