I disagree, for two reasons.  First, we should beware when our language becomes infected by cliches.  Every phrase we use need not be sparklingly original, but we should avoid resorting to canned

Funny, how totally forgettable these films are.  I've seen Finding Forester, Shipping News, The Majestic, and a few others…but I can't remember anything about them, except that they left me feeling vaguely pissed off.

The ID laws are discriminatory and sleazy…they're also completely unnecessary!  People pretending to be somebody else, trying to vote twice, etc….that sort of scam is about as rare as getting hit by lightning, and yet the Republicans pretend that it's a major problem.
