on the other side: 'A lot of people seem to think I started this business', Elvis explained, 'but rock 'n' roll was here a long time before I came along. Nobody can sing that kind of music like colored people. Let's face it; I can't sing it like Fats Domino can. I know that. But I always liked that kind of music.'

'The only thing Negroes can do for me is shine my shoes and buy my records'. -Elvis-

My grandfather fought as an African-American in WWII and I have the pictures and the Japanese knife he grabbed to prove it…(creepy really, but hey).

An amazing feat for Johnny Depp; he acted in this (and Dead Man, Ed Wood etc) and has STILL been allowed to make movies for regular people.

Frankly, after the pillaging/waterboarding/teabagging my childhood took while watching the Star Wars prequels, I'm o.k. with NOT having the last corner of adolescent cinema appreciation burned in effigy by Kutcher in a Ghostbusters sequel…

You sure it's not a strip of carpet down the center?

The funny thing about Lovecraft is that there were folks at that time against racism and his views were perhaps stronger than many writers of the time…There are many folks whom, even within a closed-minded time, were ahead of the game.

I am starting to get a very messed up picture of some of you…

@Asuka— Yeah the Scandinavian countries are too busy making heavy metal that is fascist AND satanic to come up with rape oriented entertainment…

Oops! '73 seems to be a good chunk of stuff too..Cosmic Slop(Funkadelic), Raw Power(Stooges),For Your Pleasure(Roxy Music), Dark Side of the Moon(Pink Floyd), New York Dolls(Self-titled), Fresh (Sly and the Family Stone),Over-nite Sensation(Zappa), Aladdin Sane(Bowie), Houses of the Holy(Zepplin), Quadrophenia(Who),

I like all of the years previously mentioned but 1980 is a good underrated year: Prince-Dirty Mind, AC/DC -Back in Black, Judas Priest -British Steel, Cure - Boys Don't Cry, Marley - Uprising (my 1st reggae record), Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell, Police-Zenyatta Modatta, U2 - Boy etc.

I myself found it shocking that Bieber's grandfather was behind the cover-up at Roswell, New Mexico in '47.*

I'm a De Stijl fan…

I disagree Warren; Black Flag represented the Huntington& Hermosa beach meat heads that were different in attitude from bands like X and the Germs…Black Flag fans were far more macho than the arty punks in LA just slightly before. Cops were ALWAYS at Black Flag shows. DC hardcore was more for misfits. Again, Black

Music movements appear to be reactions of previous movements; punk in reaction to stadium rock, grunge in reaction to hair metal, nu-metal in reaction to grunge, emo in reaction to nu metal, deathcore/neo-thrash/black metal in reaction to emo…on and on.

Genesis is another band with two distinct periods; weird Peter Gabriel period and pop sensible Phil Collins period
