And she's the dead girl from "The Killing" (seasons one and two). The "Fuck you, [name of show]" meme might follow her around her whole career.

I'm waiting for nested hostages. Dylan McDermott is (in some way) also being coerced into doing all this (something that this episode supports and maybe even spells out).

I might stop watching this show at some point, but I'll read the write-ups forever. Very entertaining!

@avclub-ef062084a1c4a3584af1d4f8e514ea50:disqus : I loved that silent exchange too. That's the way to do non-verbal characterization! Not only is he learning our lingo but she's also allowing him to be chivalrous, so they're meeting in the middle, as it were. Nice!

Only tangentially related, but I love Abby/the actress' accent. "Accent" is not the right word, though—"cadence" is more like it. She puts surprising spins on sentences. Her line readings are always interesting (as are her deliberate [and big] facial expressions).

It's the show's equivalent to the Grimm-ebago.

Even down to the black bra—very "Olivia in the tank."

The bolo tie was awesome, at least, and the actor wasn't one of the same two or three that always pop up.

Emily VanCamp's old show, "Everwood," had a character (Hannah) whose father suffered from Huntington's.

I like this a lot—it's interesting and not overdone at all in other entertainments (in fact, I can't think of a single additional example of it at the moment).

Does anyone know what the plural in "Civil Wars" refers to?

But waterbending could have gotten it done too…

I can't believe that, with Eska, we simply got the same beat over and over again, with no second gear at all. The show, and A:tLA before it, almost always has more layering and depth than that.

The sum total of Ikki's whole thing? Not a lot. Some pablum about family. This is maybe the sharpest that I've ever felt the "this is for kids!" thing, as Emily mentions. Nothing about talking to the previous avatars or any sort of followup to the little hint/cliffhanger/mystery that had been insinuated earlier. Dire.

Korra didn't really need the plane, either, right? She could have airbended herself closer to the ships, if proximity was required for any additional 'bending against them. I guess there's no show if we get too logical about all this.

"R.I.P." = rGood iRiddance, pMark

PK is looking more fit and/or closer-shaved or something—whatever it is, dude's looking good.

I was sure that we'd get a "Drew is moving to Gaytown" vibe in this episode, but no such luck…

A good opportunity would have been for Sarah to compare notes with Adam re: frequency of communication with kid who is at college.

Her nerd friends will call her "Dieresis" for the i-umlaut thing.
