My worry is that Irisa is getting the Kalinda treatment (from "The Good Wife"): the show is trying so hard to make her cool and silent and enigmatic that there is no way it can deliver on it. It's true Nolan is a bit of a lump of wood, but I don't mind that—beyond my worry about Irisa, I think the show's fundamentals…
But to risk a whole town for these sorts of highly abstract identity issues? She would have died, too; she has to survive first in order to be able to sort out her psyche later.
I, too, took that no-distinctions grouping of the two men in her life as meaningful. I think I went in the opposite direction, taking it as further evidence of the no-boundaries thing we see with the bathing, but I like your take more.
