Meh, I'm not going to argue with the grade, but still: There aren't many shows that make me laugh as reliably and consistently as 30 Rock does. And maybe that's the problem. It's a laugh machine—there's no pathos, sentiment, moral, or uplifting message.

Actually, I think it's the largest hub-city in lower 48. So it's more of a "fly-to, race desperately to the gate for your connecting flight, only to find out it's 40 minutes behind" country.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the producers knew that this was a weak episode; given that shows can get canceled after only one or two poor showings, I'm willing to bet that they tried to front-load this first season as much as they could, so the initial numbers would be better.
