Really sad that this won't be a straight adaptation of the comic, actually. I've been wanting to go back and revisit that whole series. Oh well, at least I'll never have to watch them kill Peter Parker off in cartoon form, as well. It was enough of a gut-punch when it was in comic form.
Easy question for me.
I'd actually like to see this - but that doesn't change the fact that every time I hear about it, I immediately think about the rumored-but-most-likely-cancelled animated adaptation of Eric Powell's The Goon. And I'm always bitterly disappointed.
Strangely enough, I just watched Chasing Amy for the first time this evening. Enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm not much of a Kevin Smith guy, but the penultimate act where Holden suggests the threesome was some really funny stuff, and I found the Holden/Alyssa romance to be pretty believable and affecting.
If your city has an Alamo Drafthouse, go there. They'll bring the alcohol to you. Also hot wings!
So, I legitimately kind of want to hear some stories of gaming from you Avclub commentators who've actually played tabletop games. No fooling, I'm sure you guys have some great tales of intrigue. I know I probably sound sarcastic right now. I can't really turn it off, I'm on the internet!
I get together every available weekend (so, probably once a month) to play some tabletop RPG or another with a group of friends, all of us in our early twenties. We've been playing since high school, and for a while there (about four years) we were only playing one game, though we went through different campaigns…
Sorry that you/the group you were playing with was not very good. Maybe give it another shot with a more experienced party, one that won't take two hours to make characters? (Also a GM that will be more accommodating to newbs, and will discourage min-maxing.)
For the record, I enjoyed Homecoming a great deal more than Silent Hill 4: The Room (which was a shoddily made POS with unbearable controls). I didn't love the story, and I feel like some of the atmosphere was really lacking, but as far as gameplay decisions go I think it was moving in an alright direction. But…
Fixda: I played the third one back in High School, and loved the shit out of it. I'm in the minority, I think, in that I like horror games where you can actually kill the thing menacing you. I know it cuts down on tension, but it's (in my opinion) way more satisfying than in any other genre of game. Clock Tower 3…
Been debating over whether to buy this, or the HD collection. I feel like newer generation games have spoiled me and I just won't be able to tolerate the fact that controlling Silent Hill protagonists is like trying to push a shopping cart down a beach. I can understand why shitty controls make for a more tense…
Aw, shit. I'm in the dirt-farmer district with the corrupt police force.
This is shaping up to be a pretty good year for me. I'm still terrified that the Avengers will suck, but Cabin in the Woods has gotten some superb response thus far. It's probably the movie that I'm looking forward to the most this year.
Part of me is certain that rule 34 applies here. The other part is too scared to check.
I'm already kind of skittish about my man-parts resting on the rim when I'm facing the right way. (Unsanitary!) Facing the other way seems like it would give them nowhere to go, so I think I'll pass.
Word to the wise - NEVER try to listen to these on audiobooks. I'm sure the fake language that he uses is tolerable in text form, but by the middle of book five I was ready to beat someone to death if I ever had to hear "thankee-sai" or "come come comalla (sp?)" spoken out loud ever again.
But won't this become a problem when they (SPOILERS) get to the fifth movie, what with it's blatant stealing of ideas and whatnot? Yes, I am still bitter about the second half of this book series.
The first three are amazing. The last three are some of the worst books that I've ever been subjected to. The middle one is alright.
Just on three, as far as I know. But ever then, I only had some mild graphics issues. (My advice - don't use anything that covers your Shepherd's eyes (other than a normal helment). I had the Recon Hood and it gave him horrified googly eyes in some cutscenes.)
