Both true enough. I guess it's just that the fourth season, right before they got cancelled, was a very heavy season for those sorts of episodes - out of eighteen, nearly half of those had some sort of emotional heft to them, with characters having to make choices and develop. And since those are some of the best that

Hatin' on New Episodes and Such.
Maybe I'm just a sappy fuck, but I kind of miss when Futurama had a stronger heart to it. Only two episodes this season have evoked any kind of emotional response - the superb "Late Philip J. Fry" episode, and the pretty good "Lethal Inspection." Part of what I loved about Season Four

Eh . . .?
Don't really care about the movie, but I guess it's sort of cool that she openly supports gay marriage. That's a pretty good message to send to her legions of tween fans, right? Of course, looking at that tattoo, I actually had to have to article tell me what it was supposed to be. I thought it was two tally

Ultimate Fallout
I know Mr. Sava mentions it above, but is anyone else following Ultimate Fallout? It hurts my heart terribly, but overall I'm finding it pretty fantastic:

Aimee Mann!
Two of my favorite songs, by my favorite musician, on my favorite show. She even gets a line, too, which I think makes her unique amongst the show's musical guests. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also think this is one of the few times that the show has set a fight scene to an outside musician.

The First Devastating Superhero Death
Generally speaking, when I read a superhero line I don't get too terribly emotionally invested. There's always this detachment, perhaps because of poor writing or because I simply know that there are a billion other versions of these characters running through the same plots in

Did anyone else think…
That this album was just sort of boring? I dunno, after listening to Transatlanticism (favorite track We Looked Like Giants) and Narrow Stairs (favorite track Cath) so much of this album just feels sluggish. Really enjoy You Are A Tourist, but that's about it.

Third Season Wants
1) Consistent writing for Brittany. She seems to be moving this season towards more than a one-liner machine - honestly approaching deadpan snarker status, more than anything. But the Glee writers need to get her under control, and figure out what kind of person they are writing for. Either she's a

I'm actually making my way through the Dark Tower audiobooms while at work. The first four were fantastic, for the most part. But the fifth book feels like it's being written by someone else entirely. Stephen Kings far shittier clone, maybe. Every time I hear a character call attention to "this is so nineteen" or

I'll accept your first comment, but I'm afraid we'll have to resort to fisticuffs regarding the second. Prepare yourself.

I agree with Derdrui on his last point - all of Karofsky's masculinity isn't a cover for anything. That's who he is - he obviously likes sports, and is obviously good at them. The insane meathead aggression is the cover. So he likes to perform - lots of hetero-normative guys do. If he quits the hockey and football

Yeah, did it strike anyone else as odd that all the prom queen candidates were making such a huge deal, about it? It's not like they don't have another year to try again . . .

Since no one has mentioned it . . .
Of course I'd be the one to do so: the hallway scene between Karofsky and Kurt was the second time in this entire season where I felt myself almost tear up. Which is saying something, because this show is usually incredibly shallow and emotionally flat. (The first time was "I wanna

Well Yee Yee, I'm straight-gay, and I watch this show because it has a hot guy, and moments like when Brittany looks at her cat and says "I know you've started smoking again."

Also - was it just me, or does Glee work a lot better as a 90 minutes show than an hour-long show? Its "everything and the kitchen sink" approach to plotting definitely benefits from more breathing room.

"We need you."
I've gotten pretty good at suspending my disbelief for this show. I try, I really do. But every time someone on this show says "wait, so-and-so, don't quit the Glee club! We need you!" I always have to ask . . . why? What does Chord Overstreet/Sam bring to the table, exactly? He's boring, he's far from

Some of us like men who aren't made of butterfly kisses and angel farts.

Wow, I kind of thought I was the lone fan of Karofsky/Adler, on this board. Cool to see otherwise. Totally agree with For Reals. It's equal parts creepy sexual attraction and genuine engagement that makes me love Karofsky scenes.
