I thought the best parallel in the final scene with his daughter was that she said she wouldn't talk. When he slumped down, I was hoping he realizes he is turning his daughter into the type of woman he manipulates and degrades all the time.

Thoughts after living with it for a while
I'll admit that it took a little while, but this is the record this year I keep coming back to. Easily my favorite record of 2008, and even though there is no "shine a light" on the album, it is far better than "queen mary."
