Joy Ride
I remember seeing Steve Zahn on Conan after Joy Ride came out on DVD, and they played a sample of hus commentary track. It was just him making car noises for the whole movie…I ended up renting it just for that.

My favorites are the gay protestors on page 5 and the devil saying on page 4, "If I can get the kids to believe homosexuality is normal!" It just makes me wonder how exactly the devil would have finished that sentence had his dialogue not been written by an idiot…

OKC, land of the awesome politicians
Our county commissioner thought it would be a good idea to release a small comic book he wrote about himself and his reelection campaign. It hasn't gone over too well so far.

I was more thinking that th film itself wouldn't have to acknowledge the recast - that it would be, umm, jarring, but in a good way…

I say go crazy with the re-cast. Use a woman. I've posted my explanantion further down, so I won't go into it again here.

Thoughts on Joker
I really liked that they played around with the "origin story." No story could have reasonably explained Joker's motivations, since he didn't really appear to have any.

The zippo lighter design of the case is a pretty brillant choice - I keep picturing the lead in the show pitching the design to his co-workers…

I love the comments on this site - they are one of the reasons I keep coming back. I've been called an idiot a few times (see: the latest Beck review), but by and large, people have been nice - the Matt Taibbi thread I was on is a good example. Maybe I'm just more selective with the threads I get…
