At least a Seagal movie is honest. It seems like True Detective is aiming higher but falling lower.

The usual defense at this point is most of the characters are stock, and so minority characters are also 2D.

I keep watching, and I would keep watching with these characters if they continued, hoping they get a better story. I like all three actors. Vaughn is doing better as they give him less and less morose monologues.
