I think it's because it's his most personal, maybe not the right word. His love of aviation is so evident, like Scorcese with Hugo or Woody allen with Manhattan (you pick: young women or the city). The politics, weariness, curmudgeon-y hero might be similar to Miyazaki himself.

It's like Miyazaki has certain views but also thinks about the substance of the opposing view.

I find it entertaining enough (and enjoying it more before hearing about Rimes talk about State of Play, which is in a whole different caliber) and good background tv but I don't think it needs to be covered weekly. I'd say that of many shows that are covered weekly here.

If Kazan was going to justify his naming names, and indeed cast himself as a hero in defiance of his brainwashed, left-leaning peers, then I don't think he would leave the judgment on the effects of unionism and communism up to the audience.
