Stacey, I also love the one with the car driving around in circles (Even Dwarves Started Small). I think it's his most insane film.

@OhNo: As much as Cage is being compared to Kinsky in this film, Cage will never come close to Kinsky.

I went to a Werner Herzog lecture in London last month. He showed us the Iguana-Cam clip with obvious glee. He said "this was too important to leave to the cinematographer, so I shot it myself".

You've got a point there. A loud point, but a point nonetheless.

I'm going to echo the plaintive bleating for The Knife. This is a serious and inexplicable blindspot of the AV Club. I'd like to hear your rationale for shunning the glorious Karin.

I just gave The Moldy Peaches an ill-advised spin on Spotify, I see what you're saying… They make me laugh in a wild, bitter oh-no-you-can't-be-serious way.

Hear, hear. The Knife is a terrible omission.

Why does everyone seem to hate "Well It's True That We Love One Another"? I think it's charming and humorous; you're allowed to slap something silly like that onto the end of an album like Elephant, just for kicks.

TomWaits, that list is tight. You have impeccable taste sir.

All my Dad ever says is "pass the gravy".

Fight Club seems all amazing and original until you see Persona and realise how heavily it draws on that film. Fight Club is good but is overshadowed by Persona.

The animation in FMF is anything but "lazy, poorly crafted and clumsy". The passion and skill of the animators is staggering, and it's an all round excellent movie to boot.

nah I think it deserved more than a flat B. It got a B here because Tasha is a Wes Anderson curmudgeon.

I disagree with Tasha, the animation is charming and a refreshing contrast to a lot of the hyper-real animation we see today. Bill Murray said that the animation for this movie could only have been done in London and I think this is very true. It has a stamp of eccentricity and subtle charm that is uniquely British.

definitely, it's excellent

Agreed Korpios. The Canadian tar sands contain vast untouched resources of heavy oil that have only recently become viable to extract.

night terrors
Zack, I also used to get those night terrors really bad when I was younger. I would wake up drenched in sweat, freezing cold, crying and filled with an incredibly strong feeling of dread and helplessness. The exact dream and source of the fear would often be hazy. It is horribly unnerving and tangible,
