The songs in the bar and at closing credits were all from Urban Cowboy, I don't know what it means (maybe it was just because they were in Houston) but I enjoyed it

(this reply is actually from me - I thought I was logging into the avclub but actually created a disqus acct instead, oops)

I may be completely off base, but I thought Cary was up to something when he not only insisted she take the day off but wouldn't let her step off the elevator and into the office. Didn't he find out last week (or the week before?) that Alicia had agreed to a merger without even discussing it with him?

The singer is Georgi Kay. I haven't found Joga, but here's her soundcloud, which includes a song she sang in the last episode (Ipswich):

I really liked the special, so. You can watch it on youtube here:

I agree with what Battlecar said too but can't reply to the comment, so am replying to Todd's (I agree with Todd too, but Battlecar went further).

Big stupid baby head Elwes was pretty over-the-top with that American accent and the laughing. Not complaining, the episode flew by and it's possibly sad to say, but that and some banter (and some Hardison and Parker) is all I really need from Leverage.

You're right about the backstory and filling out the characters. I think they could go smaller with the plots, too, there doesn't need to be murder and pedophilia and so on every week. It's a small town, you can do small crimes and still have stakes.

I really like most of the characters, and I like the setting a lot, especially since most procedurals take place in a city, but they really need to work on the writing. The first 15 minutes are often enjoyable/interesting and I get optimistic about the episode. Then the plot and characterizations devolve until it

Can you give some examples from the show to explain what you mean by it being preachy? Genuinely curious.
