REad the novel by Horace McCoy.  It's even bleaker than the movie as McCoy makes no attempts to make Gloria sympathetic.

Top Hat is my favorite Astaire/Rogers, but their best dance number was Let's Face the Music and Dance from Follow the Fleet.

I miss Spelling type productions. I'm bored with all the quality TV that's on now. Bring back glitzy escapist trash.

I'll be watching Kim Novak in Picnic and Pal Joes (also with Sinatra and Hayworth) tonight on tcm.

Mamie is the last of the blatant Marilyn Monroe 50s blonde imitators still alive and she's still trying to pull off the busty blonde bombshell look even though she's now past 80.

I hope AV Club will cover the final season of TZ at some point, if for nothing else for a write up of the Talky Tina episode and the dire Bewitchin' Pool.

It's Kim Novak night (first of 4 this month) on TCM.  Vertigo.  Man with Golden Arm. And two Noirs she made when Columbia was launching her into stardom.

I grew up with WGN in the late 70s.  Besides Bozo and Grand Prize GAme and of course the Cubs (Jack Brickhouse on play by play), I remember Frasier Thomas and Garfield Goose as well as Thomas hosting Family Movies on Sunday afternoons—it seemed he showed Boys Town with Tracy and Rooney at least 5 times a year.

NO one has mentioned Connery's role as the rapist sort of husband to Tippi Hendren in Hitchcock's Marnie, one of the more perverse films in Hitchcock's career.

Another to add to the list:  That Boy of Mine by 80s Latin Freestyle Girl Group The Cover Girls.  The entire song is a Spector girl group flashback.

Charlie's Angels holds up much better than Cagney and Lacey, precisely because it was such fluff and made no attempts to disguise it was escapist entertainment with a cast of beautiful women with star quality.

Vandellas were named after Van Dyke St. in Detroit and the singer Della Reese.

Ray had to divorce Graham after he caught her having sex with his teenage son.  Years after they divorced, Graham married the son.

DeToth's eye patch prevented him from getting a full view of his wife in the 1940s, Veronica Lake.

I'll add "Missing YOu" by Diana Ross. She didn't write the song, but she did dedicate it to her former Supreme group mate Florence Ballard who died in 1976, 8 years before Missing You was recorded.

Speaking of Trish Van Devere, not long after The Changeling she got a chance to star in a haunted house type moive called The Hearse that used to be shown a lot on HBO in the early 80s.

Yet another bloated (149 minutes!) overproduced popcorn movie with an origin story that's just an excuse to try to design a theme park ride.

In the early 70s The Supremes covered the song as part of their Vegas/nightclub show and tried to turn the song into a woman's empowerment anthem against no good, unfaithful, lying men.
