Kelly Willis did a pretty good cover of "They're Blind" a long ways back.  Not one of my favorite Mats songs but she sold it as a good country ballad.

Anytime I see Joe Flaherty in anything, I make a Count Floyd reference and my wife, who is younger and didn't watch this or SCTV, gives me a look that seems to bring her relationship decision-making skills into question.

I agree.  Having seen them live a bunch both before and after Bennett, I miss the classic rock feel that he brought to the band.  The long jams on Casino Queen were always fun.  I appreciate the virtuosity of Cline but there's something to be said for good old fashioned solid rock and roll too.

I remember the Hom one.  The bad pun has stuck with me for years.  I think that was from a Zork-branded CYOA.

The Dogmatics were more garage-y than power pop.  Kind of Boston's Replacements if the Mats never progressed past Hootenanny.  Though King Size Cigarette is a great pop song.

Agreed.  The Crossing is a fantastic record and the band gets tarred with the one-hit brush so often that it gets overlooked.

How about Skids?  Into the Valley is one of the best songs from the power pop/new wave era but I'm not sure which side of the fence most people would skew them on.
