I don't know why this is still a discussion. In the universe of the show, they're all agendered space rocks, and our human concepts of gender and sexuality don't really apply. Meta-textually, Pearl, Ruby, and Sapphire are ABSOLUTELY coded gay on purpose.

That's probably the case for explaining why the humans seem so lackadaisical about the Gems, but I'd still think world governments at SOME point in Earth's history would want to stick their heads in. The fact that there's not a direct line to the UN in Steven's home baffles me,

Pearl's been stagnating for a while, but I really think/hope this will revitalize her character in a big way if they stick with it.

I think those differences will actually bounce nicely off each other. I think a Pearl/Lapis episode could do a lot for both characters.

Oh man, this episode had everything I need from a SU episode… namely: singing, crying, and singing while crying.

Yeah, I can't place a particular scene like I can for most of the Utena references, but it definitely feels Utena-y.

I guarantee that 95% of the Crewinerse consists of former Utena and Eva fan fic writers.

Finally got around to watching this show since its on Hulu now, and I'm lazy and wanted to veg out on the couch with the show. It was amazing, and tight too. Perfect length. Perfect ending

I mean, in her first appearance she basically drained the whole ocean to build a tower into space, and still had the willpower to create water clones strong enough to beat the Crystal Gems. Taking down a small ship should be nothing.
