why can't it be both??

How is summary by equation "neo-hipster"?

Or, since we're talking Zack Snyder, at least as coherent.

By "choreograph, frame, and shoot an action sequence", do you mean shoot every fight scene in super slow motion? Because that's all I get from Snyder's style (and it gets old).

I'm probably wrong…
but I thought the makers said the third (or fourth?) installment was supposed to have been the final one.

Chabon
also wrote an engaging essay on Holmes fandom for the uninitiated in his first essay collection Maps & Legends. A nice combination of Conan Doyle biography, obsessive fans, and homage.

That Anti-Story collection may be worth it and all, but if you've not read or even heard of Pierre Menard, then for fuck's sake get thee to a bookstore and pick up the Ficciones by Jorge Luis Borges

beg to differ
3121 converted me. Anecdotal evidence, but still.

what about the commentary on the commentary on reused beats?

A lot of this hinges upon what Widmore is up to in the new 2004. Is he an industrialist, or has he become a philathropist funding under-water research? Who was Jin supposed to deliver the watch to? (for real, I can't remember if they every answered the question).

Um, didn't The Eraser already prove that? Or, the fact that The Hollow Earth was left off The Eraser? Or, the fact that The Eraser sounded better when played by Thom Yorke ???? than the record?

Because it would be the same review except every instance of "Postal Service", "Gibbard" or "Tamborello" would be replaced with "Beirut" or "Zachary Condon".

rooting for the bad guy
Isn't that the objective DOOM has spent his career achieving? And doesn't he do a much better job?

I hope
that Stones Throw will offer it as a subscription (a la McSweeney's Books, for instance). It's gonna rock so hard. Hardest working man in the business, for sure.

The Stepsister
Oh, I agree about her not being "cured" from sex. There's a bit (I think the last mention of Becky in the book) where she gets in a car with several boys, and they head off. I'd forgotten about it entirely 'til I read your commentary.

I have a friend at work who tried to find the Wrapped up in Books section a couple weeks ago, and would've given up looking because it disappears off the frontpage. Luckily, I was able to set him straight. And then punch him in the gut.

For real, the abortion was more disturbing. Richard's stepfather at least *kinda* dicked him over. The only thing Laura did was be annoying.

Mother.
I felt that, along with the Becky and Laura bits, the Hudson's odd fixation with his mother was included to entice the pulp-readership (those sick bastards). The abrupt abandonment that his mother receives implies to me that Willeford put it in there at the publisher's request, but dropped it as soon as he

I found a bunch used copies available (mine was 1.64 before shipping, shipping made it around 5 bucks). Same with the next selection, too.

I thought that was the most affecting scene in the novel.
