So this ISN'T a gritty remake of Manos: The Hands of Fate? Because I would trust PT to give such a project the attention it deserves.

Indeed. I don't think there's any suggestion the audience LIKES the symphony as much as they're moved by seeing a beloved teacher conduct one last time.

In the timeline where they just straight-up cancelled Community, I think I might be actually doing better.

Quite honestly, I thought The Dark Knight seemed like a string of TV episodes together (not that brings any lessons from TV as much as a really odd scrip structure). Think of how many 20 minutes chunks would work well by themselves. Batman going to China and returning soon after is odd in a movie but makes sense for

I enjoyed this episode more when it seemed like Batman had gone completely delusional looking for non-existent clues in television commercials. It also sort of undercuts how much Batman in TAS believed in redemption in his villains.

Agreed about this being one of the top episodes. With most write-ups I'm like "Hey, I remember this episode!" but I had a visceral reaction this one. Endless Mike's attempts to lose weight with Pete is the first image that comes to my mind when I think of Pete & Pete and sometimes makes an appearances in my nightmares.

Chris Moneymaker winning the WSOP was pretty much the last great, "you can be sports star" moment in many a young man's life. You might be out-of-shape, have terrible hand-eye coordination, and get winded after running for five seconds but you could certainly outplay Moneymaker in poker. He just got crazy lucky.

Krusty's toe-tapping during Lisa's musical number is the spark, the magic, the JOY of comedy. It is the wink that separates The Simpsons from the also-rans and if you will not laugh, at least quietly appreciate the moment.

I've seen Nick Cannon do stand-up. He's actually pretty good.

"You don't get it" is never a defense for anything in a movie. The ending was a gag that went on for 20 minutes. Considering how much was packed into most of the movie, the ending is incredibly bland.

I enjoyed the 1st two acts, even investing in the characters which is weird for a horror film especially how "Cabin in the Woods" is designed.  The 3rd act…. Whedon simply didn't have an endgame. The Carnival of Souls reference was a nice touch though.

There's a great anecdote on the Simpsons commentary when Bob Newhart was a special guest star in the episode "Bart the Fink."  All the writers were big fans of Newhart so they all went to watch him record his lines. They were in the actual room so they couldn't make a sound and Newhart is such a slow talker (the audio

Maybe it will finally correct the mistake of Transformers not having the Secretary of Defense scream, "I'm also the Secretary of OFFENSE!" *shotgun blast

Now we don't know that for sure. Maybe the next thing out of Daniels mouth is about the national debt and globalization as the solution.

I also rarely notice the film process going on while watching a movie. The car scene from Children of Men is an exception but not in a negative way. The tension from what appears to be an unimportant scene rises and rises the longer the camera doesn't cut away until the drama catches up. It was quite exceptional.

So back in the 1980s, the biggest soap opera Dallas was about Texan oilmen. Today, the biggest soap opera is about zombies. What I'm getting at is why isn't there a zombie Texas oilmen soap opera?

To be, or not to be; that is the bare bodkin.

How times change. The show Mr. Ed murdered horses left and right just to get the right freeze-frame picture.
