"Am I supposed to stand here like a douchebag in front a sign all night?"
"Do it in whatever style you like."

Which he says to E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt. Meta!
Sopranos dinner talk
Todd, I actually thought the conversation between the Sopranos at the dinner table about Italian achievements was another bit of mockery on Chase's part of Tony's self-justifications. In fact, I think the series visits similar territory with the Columbus Day episode, again positing that the Mafia…
Perhaps a reference to James Cagney pushing a grapefruit into Mae Clarke's face in The Public Enemy?
I'd say it's pretty much amazing all the way through - maybe it wore its agenda on its sleeve a little too much in Season Six, but it still gave us incredible hours of television. This could just be my perspective, as I got on to the show during Season Four, but I think that and Season Five contain some of the series'…
And his appreciation for the "underrated" Godfather Part III. I remember liking "A Hit Is A Hit" and its sly commentary on identity politics. I'll rewatch it soon enough and see where I stand.
Brilliant Livia moment in "Down Neck" when it's revealed she reads the death notices in the newspaper (with the aid of a magnifying glass).
At least he wasn't mistaken for strangers by his own friends.
The theme of Tony seeing himself as a military leader has a hell of a pay-off at the end of Season 4, when he re-discovers the painting that Paulie saved from the fire.
"It was also the first time the two were found in a such a situation"
Homicide is excellent. Blew my young mind when I watched reruns of it years ago (pre-Wire and pre-Shield, which made the influence of Homicide obvious when I saw those shows for the first time). I think the complete series recently came out on DVD in the UK, but yes, Evel, it's probably torrentable.
Heralds
Heard good things about it at 4thletter.net, and picked up the first two issues. I agree that Herren's art in Issue #2 is a step down from Zonjic, but overall I love it. It's fast, funny and features female heroes kicking ass and solving mysteries, not as victims, sex objects or love interests. A breath of…
And also Wonder Boys. Practically nothing to connect those three films but the name of the director.
Pop. 1280 actually leapfrogs over The Killer Inside Me in terms of sheer WTFness, especially the final reveal. Those are the only two Thompson books I've read, but I'm eager to read The Getaway as well. I'm disappointed that the humour and circular conversations appear to have been cut from the film - those were some…
There's also the fact that a few high-profile actors from The Sopranos (Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli, off the top of my head) were also in Goodfellas. I think they mention the film once on the show, but to bring it up too often would stretch suspension of disbelief.
The "all hell breaks loose in the penultimate episode" technique later found its way into The Wire and, to a lesser extent, Breaking Bad.
Is Aliens awesome?
Yeah, it's definitely more ambitious than The '59 Sound, and goes to more interesting places.
I am proud to skew the AVC hotness below average.
I WISH YOU MANY YEARS OF HAPPINESS
