For me, it's Robert Ryan and Jason Robards.
Maybe for you, but Blood Meridian was my third McCarthy (after No Country and The Road) and it blew me away. Went on to read Suttree and The Border Trilogy, which were almost as good. I just celebrate the man's entire catalogue!
