I actually looked up the year 200 on Wikipedia to make a joke about Evel's comment. Turns out some pretty cool shit went on then. I'd like to see a Blues Brothers prequel set in the Roman Empire (they're really on a mission from God this time!).

"i believe he was paralyzed too but it was hard to tell cause he never moved"

I was just listening to "Born Like This" this morning! It's great, I've been playing it solidly for the last two months.

I thought the same thing. At least we were spared the buck-toothed bikini-clad reveal…. (Don't say that, Werdsmiff, they're saving that for the sequel!)

Kyle: "Clark & Michael has its moments"? That series is nothing but moments … of hilarity! Honestly, he's been great in everything I've seen him in - he doesn't have the greatest range, but I don't see people clamouring for him to be cast as a cop on the edge with nothing to lose. He's got great comic timing, and as

Pelham and Dog Day Afternoon are really good at capturing the feel of a city and life going on around the hostage drama: the cops are alternately bored and jittery, the crowds get riled up, you get the feeling that everyone has their own life outside of these events and wish they could go back to it. I miss those old

Yeah, fuck the haters, Carcetti was brilliant. Went from idealistic to douchey, and made it convincing.

The doc sounds pretty interesting, even I'm not actually that familar with the man and his work. I know he's been very influential, and could probably give a description of his musical/production style and some artists that have emulated it, but I just haven't heard that much by him. Any good places to

I only saw a couple of episodes of Burn Notice, but I noticed that the Irish accent got dropped pretty sharpish. One of the more blatant examples of post-pilot retooling I've seen, but it really was for the best.

End of the Century is a really good film, and I'm not usually into music docs.

You can't be in two bands at once. Tom Petty tried that with The Heartbreakers, it nearly killed the poor bloke.

Lesser Known True Fact: He also took Aaronofsky to a party where two girls went ASS TO ASS, and now takes full credit for Requiem For A Dream as well.

Factotum was an okay read, but I didn't see huge amounts there to discuss. Maybe it's just me. Snow Crash was totally awesome when I was fifteen or so, but while trying to clear shelf space recently I had to face the harsh truth that I probably wouldn't read it again.

Don't forget Single Female Lawyer!

"The defence will stop badgering the witness."

I'll second the appreciation for Criminal, Zombie. "Coward" (the first trade) ranks as one of the best crime stories I've encountered in any medium.

Agree with the recommendations on Sleeper, Ex Machina and The New Frontier. Powers was good, but I didn't feel the need to read beyond the first trade. I could change my mind though.

Anything by Charlie Kaufman
OK, so Synecdoche NY is pretty depressing, but all of his settings are wonderfully skewed versions of our own world. For all the metatextual pop-philosophical ramblings, there's a still so much heart to the stories, so that the feel of racing through your own memories, considering the pain

Re: living in songs - I'd live in an MF DOOM album. Fun, cartoonish, frequently hilarious and sometimes a little spooky.

The Shield, anyone?
