And apparently (only saw it once, so can't confirm) the leaves on the trees are made of money. An inside joke about the high budget?

This is a really good interview
I like it when subjects get really in-depth about their work, and he obviously loves talking about making films (except when you ask him about future projects - Pixar obviously like to play it close to the vest). It was interesting hearing about how they brainstorm from a collection of

There's a hilarious photograph taken during the tour of Kruschev and Nixon about to shake hands, eyeing each other suspiciously. About the most succinct commentary on the Cold War ever.

Yeah, fuck that guy! How dare he be enthusiastic about his work?

"Angels was only a few years ago." Maybe it just seems longer. And I didn't say he longer had a great performance in him, just these days he seems to be coasting and "HOO-AH!"-ing his way to an easy paycheck (as another commenter put it elsewhere).

Wait, we aren't talking about Asia the supergroup?

Ray Cohn in "Angels In America" really was his last great performance. I almost don't want to think about it, because it'll make me sad at how the mighty have fallen.

Dammit, and there was me thinking I was going to get shitloads of cash for my screenplay and at least one awkward on-set chat with Zooey Deschanel.

The line "asthmatic mortician/puppeteer who finds Biel's dog" made me think of an indie-quirkfest comedy about a shy guy whose life doing dead-dog puppetry shows is turned on its head by a manic pixie dream girl.

Wait, joannemullen made a smug, condescending and idiotic comment? Well, hold the phone, junior!

Excellent comment, dan. I've always liked the Pet Shop Boys (introduced to them in childhood), and while I won't necessarily listen to them every week, I know I can always play one of their albums and find something to enjoy. They write excellent, intelligent pop songs with an inbuilt tension between the

What am I drinking? Lager, a pint thereof.

"Throw yourself into the road, darling! You haven't got a chance!"

When Estevez is talking to Stanton in the hospital , and says, "I know I shouldn't have split on you, but it's like when I was a kid, and there was this set of Big Wheels I wanted…" Always good for when someone starts telling a rambling story.

Not an actual appearance, but the villain in Galaxy Quest is named after film critic Andrew Sarris.

Hank Azaria? Seriously, I thought the Egyptian guy on the posters was Jeremy Irons, slumming it again (Dungeons and Dragons? The Time Machine? Dude rivals Michael Caine for holiday money gigs).

"random Wayanses": funniest cast listing ever.

Katherine Parkinson?
AKA Jen from The IT Crowd? Thought she was decent in that (though I didn't love the show as a whole), and it'd be interesting to see her play something less sitcommy. Unfortunately, if this is a star vehicle for Jessica "Stealth" Biel, I will not watch it unless under extreme duress.

You guys apologise for INXS, and we can talk.

Excellently put, Penguin. Classic noir dialogue is chewy as hell, but is dashed off by the characters without a second thought. It's a sign of gears turning, people working the angles, and thinking they're smarter than they actually are. Brick gets it exactly right.
