Turning Maxxie to Tea
I'm sure that this has been said before, but turning the gay male character into a lesbian is so counter-intuitive to the whole pushing the boundaries vibe this show tries to go for.

Arcade Fire is like a gateway band. You start listening to them, then maybe Owen Pallett, which might lead you to Andrew Bird, which could go anywhere afterward!
The Most Annoying Part
This whole, WHO THE FUCK IS ESPERANZA SPALDING thing is ridiculously silly. The woman had a New Yorker profile done on her last year, for Chrissakes. Granted, the population who follows Bieber probably barely knows how to read anyway, but still.
Apart from the silly title — "Gob's Grief" — it is actually really strong, what with all the Civil War/bringing back the dead stuff going on. But his best book so far is "The Children's Hospital," which is fascinating.
Speculative/Fantastic/Extraordinary Fiction
The Guardian ran a piece the other day about how speculative fiction in Britain is starting to obtain more ground in the literary scene. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/b… Which I don't necessarily agree with, mainly because novels in America like "Gravity's Rainbow," "Infinite…
In four years, Reelz has just plummeted. They used to have, like, user-based shows, pieces where they were generally excited about upcoming movies, both big and small, and O.K. programming all around. Now they're basically TV Guide.
Sounds like what happened to Tapes n Tapes!
Well, that's sort of the thing that Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" did right. Singer realized the blandness of the character and made it about how other people view Superman, and how their lives are tossed and turned and upset by him. O.K., maybe he didn't balance out the action as well as he should have, but he…
I Played
There's a user-created "Little Big Planet 2"-"Dead Space" level out there. If any of these games are as well done as that level, then I think they'd be worth someone's time.
Colorado Springs
So, I'm from Colorado Springs and you know, it's kind of really sad that one of the first cities to have electricity, to host Nikolai Tesla for a bit, to be founded by General Palmer as a resort community, to have struck gold, and to have some of the most sweeping naturally panoramic landscaping…
Fuck you, AV Club
I guess goofy puns are just below you.
Seconded.
He had the ability to make even the worst movies bearable for however long he was on screen. Take for instace: "Clash of the Titans."
Things You Forgot!
Additionally:
@Ellie: "Skippy Dies" is indeed fantastic. I just forgot that it was a 2010 book.
Why? Because it's great!
The problem with "Mockinjay" was that it had to cover the ground the second book in the series did not. I've said before that "Catching Fire" was going well and good until Suzanne Collins freaked out and put the characters back in the arena again: after that, the book series kind of deteriorated.
Egregious Misses!
"A Visit From the Goon Squad" by Jennifer Egan: Easily the best book of the year, what with all the time travelin' rock and rollin' stylist-mixin' crazy awesomeness it entailed.
Seeing as how Cuaron was the first one to draw decent performances (or at least some semblance of a performance) from the Potter kids, I'd say he's up for the task!
WELL SOMEONE NEEDS TO REVIEW THAT BOOK ANYWAY.
