The short story 1408 had fucking really creepy moments (the phone calls gave me nightmares) and like HDB said, it was a perfect depiction of a trip gone terribly bad.  I got about half way through the novel of 'Dreamcatcher' and put it down.  The movie wasn't good by any means but it was sort of enjoyably dumb.

Good Christ for all that is holy, the tv adaptation of "It" was fucking terrible.  The only redeeming factor was Tim Curry as Pennywise.
