I feel a fair bit of goodwill towards those two guys (Old School, Starsky and Hutch … funny stuff) but the trailer for this did not convince me that this was going to be a genuinely good watch.  It's almost like an old geezer type movie, for example Wild Hogs, but for 40somethings … and these guys are way too good to

"Hudson" was one that I didn't really like initially but it's really grown on me.

It wouldn't be the first time.  See, e.g., cover of Boxer.

agreed.  it seemed like the trailer went out of its way to only mention him in the fine print or whatever.

heterogeneous satchel?

Totally.  I really love that first track and how hard those drums hit at the outset before that funky guitar line slices in.

Dan's conversation with Dana about the dating plan may have been the highlight of this season for me.  Because it was about time someone told her that shit was stupid.

Pretty great descriptions of Mitchum in that movie by Ebert.  It's a terrifying performance - one of my favorites, and presents such a feeling of danger and desperation in such stark contrast to Peck's decency.

Very cool.  I feel like Zach Gilford played Matt with such soul that it made for people to relate to him very quickly.

Second this being a great post.  If you feel like sharing further, which of the kids did you identify the most?  I mean, it sounds like it's Julie with her being Coach's kid but I'm curious who else among the characters that actually played football for Coach.  One of the truly great things about the show was how

Tywin Lannister would make a helluva tennis dad on the ATP/WTA tour.

Best / most awkward pop culture group hug has to be from Newsradio where a pervy Bill McNeill enjoys the togetherness on an altogether different level than the rest of the cast.

having julie as a sister is the only thing that gave me pause about this.  she just seems like she can be alot of work.  i dunno about y'all but she was the least redeeming mainstay character on that show for me by far.

It was a song that I kind of overlooked for a while, even though I really loved Boxer and played it alot the year it came out.  It wasn't till later that I took a step back and was like, damn, that's probably one of my 10 favorite songs by my favorite band.  I really can't explain why I didn't like it immediately.

Friendly suggestion: Go back and listen to that 5 song sequence starting with "All the Wine" and let it play on through till "Mr. November" is finished.  Start the album over with "Secret Meeting."  Sometimes albums are like puzzles that you have to unlock for yourself and it's about falling in love with a part of it

For about a year in my life, I did think Boxer was a better album than Alligator but I've since gone back to liking Alligator best.  I've never even come close to thinking that about either of the subsequent two albums.  For me, there's just no getting around how beautifully crazy the lyrics on Alligator are and

A great live band.

It feels like each album since Alligator has become progressively a little less weird.  There's plenty of weird lyrics on Boxer and High Violet has a few as well but this album is somewhat devoid of them.  I'm not gonna lie: that aspect of it alone makes me most fond of Alligator of all their albums.  Pouring Jack and
