That kind of thing is a little jarring to hear — I read a biography of Mick Ronson and he at one time separated from his wife too, and it…  bothered me.  When it's someone I admire I always manage to fogive them and gloss it over in a way that I suppose isn't fair.  Oh well.

Oh, this book looks good.  Henson was fascinating.  It's intersting to look at puppetry before him (even great, innovative puppetry or puppet design) and then after.  No one in that business, or in the special effects business, doubts his influence.
It's sad that he died, of course it is… but damn, I'm glad he's not

The dinosaurs that used to work on my plantation were, I thought, lazy.  But they said, no, we're cold-blooded, we have to rest and store up energy.

I'm looking forward to him in the Gilliam film coming up, mostly because the trailer shows him looking.. timid and unsure.  I've never seen him be either of those things in a movie and I bet he's good at that too.

Oh, god, isn't there a Region 1?  that's a fucking crime.  I have some..   DVDs that .. a friend .. recorded for me.  Legally, I'm completely positive.

I have, somewhere, a vhs collection of old Looney Tunes.  My kids and I used to watch them all the time. At the opening of one cartoon, Daffy flies across the screen, towing a banner that says "Buy War Bonds".

Saxon, saxoff.

Ah yes.  Identification Forever Part One.  That takes place on a DMV line, doesn't it?

F.I.S.T. would have worked as a 5 part cable series, I think.  At its movie length, it tries to cover too long a time span, so we get this jarring thing of Stallone-as-young-idealistic-union-organizer, then nearly immediately Stallone-with-gray-hair-as-old-corrupt-union-organizer.
I didn't like the movie much, and am

Wasn't that "maudlin piano ballad" actually Paradise Alley by one Tom Waits?  I mean, no, Stallone can't sing for shit, but Waits' version is of course wonderful.

"I’m glad the show finally addressed whether “Tammy” was lurking somewhere in Diane’s name, then immediately dismissed it"

"This is the case that never ends… it just goes on and on my friends…"

Is that a real quote from Veronica Mars, gforguava?  'Cause that's awesome and hilarious.  I have to re-start the show - never did finish watching it — I only had a few discs available to me at the time, but I liked what I saw.

I know it's not necessary, and it might not be possible, but.. I would LOVE a sequel to Life On Mars/Ashes to Ashes.   Call it ScaryMonsters, continue right where Ashes to Ashes left off ("where's my iPhone?") and let Gene Hunt go to town.  Knowing the true nature of Gene and his crew would not deter me a bit from

Kima rules my heart for that and for every other damn thing she ever did on The Wire.  Hell, I'm older than her, but I could stand to have her recite the Baltimore version of Goodnight Moon to me every night before I go to sleep…

Did no one mention Mick Belker from Hill Street?  It's not that I run into much trouble in my life, but when I do I want someone feisty, tough and tenacious to have my back.  And to bite the bad guy's nose off.

I understand the lack of like for Beyond Therapy (or for other Altmans, it's a free country). But with every Altman movie, I am in awe of how he was with actors.  (Charles Dutton in Cookie's Fortune for instance)  With no regard for an actor's previous typecasting, no regard for box-office, Altman put his cast to

Seconded — both how good she was in Perfect Couple, and that it needs to be seen more widely.
I was going to say that I feel that way about all Altman movies except Quintet —- then I realized, yeah, I could see Quintet again….

He was also a Jew, so  I hope they have him fighting Hitler.  Via time-travel!

Many, many likes, Drunk Dave.
