That whole show was awesome, and everyone in it was fucking perfect.  Idris Elba showing up was icing on the cake for me; I wasn't familiar with any of the other actors I don't think.
So sad that it only went for one season — but you know what?  It was  a great season.

I'm not arguing, just trying to remember (and I'm almost old enough that I SHOULD remember) - in the original comic, doesn't Blake find just the stick, or cane, whatever, and then (for some reason) slam it to the ground, like you do, and then it's a hammer and he's Thor?
Or was it a hammer he found and it becomes a

And — sorry, this still tickles me - whatever New Mexico town they filmed in had a high school team named The Vikings.
Okay, probably not, but a high school sign is pretty easy for a set designer to change.

That's all taken care of in the Ultimates, isn't it?  Sort of.

Was Angelina Jolie not mentioned on this list, for A Mighty Heart?  Wasn't Matthew Pearl's wife, who Jolie played, black, or part black?  I recall some controversy, but.. I never saw the movie.  I think her performance was well-enough reviewed, but there was some outrage initially.

One Nicolas Cage casting coup I wish would have happened was as Andy Kaufman.  He did his usual Cage-esque "I AM [famous person to be portrayed's name]".  And everyone was thrilled with Jim Carrey (a big deal was made over the fact that Kaufman and Carrey have the same birthday which… you know, isn't THAT big a deal)

The white-supremacy group Council Of Conservative Citizens

Not  rock really, but California Bloodlines by John Stewart is my CA song.  So there.

I was going to say I'm for this, long as Jones stars.  Good movie, better book (by William Dale Jennings).  Could be a damn good remake.
Plus, goddamn, someone's finally making The Homesman!!! it was attached to Paul Newman, right after the novel (Glendon Swarthout) came out.  That will make a hell of a movie too.

Yeah, Mal and company were being a little idealistic - I don't think that even a galaxy-wide broadcast of the Miranda situation would change much.  But it's admirable (to me) that they tried, that they didn't just cut and run when it got dicey.. in fact they made it more dicey by persisting.
You KNOW the Alliance would

SPOILER #4:

I'll fess up to being not awesome and not as much of a history nerd if you'll clue me in to the reference.
Wait, actually I fessed up anyway.  But I'm a LITTLE awesome.

I love the episode where Mal just happens (as, it turns out, he does every year) to be in an Alliance-friendly bar on ..I don't know, Unification Day or whatever it's called - just so he can get in a brawl and so that he'll only be defending himself…

Oh, but probably you should be in a LITTLE hurry to watch Firefly.  I too  saw Serenity first, on a dvd from netflix - had never even heard of Firefly.
But… I remedied the situation, first with netflix dvds, then with a very reasonably priced box of the show, and a 5 dollar dvd of Firefly…
and now I really can't

Reitman is particularly good at adaptations.  That said, I've never read any novel and pictured Adam Sandler as a character.

Ahem.  Pretty sure you meant THE shit.

She completely killed on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, when the questions for her on Not My Job were all about Necco Wafers.
Okay, she didn't actually win, didn't get all three, but there was some hilarious banter there.

I'm in the This Tornado Loves You camp too.  Such incredible lyrics, and one hell of a conceit for a narrative song.  (I mean that in a good way, jeez.)

I've never seen this show - judging from the credits on the poster, there's only ONE guy on it.  I would like his job, I think.  Most of it.

The beauty of Terriers is (spoiler of sorts ahead) - the ending really could go either way.  Yes, I know in my bones that Britt went ahead and took his punishment, and I further know that he ends up living happily with Katie….and I think that's how we were meant to view it (maybe not the Katie part but I'm a romantic).
