I would love to see Fox News find a REAL socialist and talk to him or her.  These are people who can't understand how a Muslim religious studies professor could write a book about the historical Jesus (a book, which, by the way, paints JC in a pretty flattering -though rabble-rousing- light in my opinion)(but I'm not

It's too late for the studio to stifle Card, and yeah, they should have done that awhile back if they wanted a chance at a profit.
'Member back when Interview with the Vampire came out?  Anne Rice ranted and raved about how Tom Cruise was certainly not [whoever he played] and that it was a ridiculous casting decision,

Could have easily ignored, sure..
But ignore it on the AVC, where Card rants are fun to comment on, and where (for some ungodly reason) some people are looking forward to seeing the Ender's Game movie?  Nah.  I don't thing WE could ignore it.

It was the Mormon elements of the "family lifestyle" in that book that were, yes, autobiographical, and, just incidentally I suppose, creeped me the hell out.
Nothing scandalous about it, just.. Mormons are weird.  Although, since they save all that food, it's good to know where they live for when the End Times come.

Actually… it was Mel Gibson who failed at Gallipolli.  Stupid Aussie couldn't run fast enough, and so…

The National Police Force, or as Card puts it, "NaPo."   I love the idea.

Whoa.  I didn't know that, about Bones.  I shoiuld probably check it out. I streamed the first couple eps a few months back, and it was fine, just haven't had the time to go any further.

Here's my Apple-averse situation.  I have a pc and am perfectly fine with it, and was limping along for years with MP3 players from Sony or whoever…
But — none of those guys made a player with the capacity I wanted, so I FINALLY succumbed to the ipod.  Used some tax refund money to get an ipod classic, because 160

… thought Kutcher WAS a beard…

Same here - 1)is vomit really so goddamn funny?  and 2) even if it is, is MORE vomit funnier? Jeez.

The Parisian night suit incident has always made me cringe, not because I wore one myself ever, but because a classmate of mine, in high school (mid-1970s) went on and to everyone about this new "outfit" he was buying that weekend.  And the fact that  a guy would say, to other guys, he was buying clothes, and then

I agree, but… Patton, Cash, Pollock and Keller were far more interesting, and did many more fascinating things.
Also that's the name of my new law firm.

Argo inspired me to never go to Iran in the 1970s.  Mission accomplished!

Me too.  I actually never saw Tucker - but when the movie came out, having never heard of the car or the man, I did some reading, and yes, it was fascinating*… but I've never seen the movie.  Nothing against the idea of seeing it, it's just that a dramatized film may not be the best delivery system for this kind of

I think they should call the Sorkin movie Jobs II.

So you're saying there are Ashton Kutcher fans?  Man, am I out of touch.

In the LA Times review (they also didn't like it much) they drop in the fact that Ashton Kutcher keeps mentioning:  that he himself (Kutcher) is really quite the tech boy, having…..
Okay.  invested in some companies and done commercials for a digital camera.  I don't personally get how that translates to "Ashton

There was a movie of the John Irving novel Hotel New Hampshire, with incest, made into a movie with Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster as the incesters.
Pretty bad movie, and probably a bad book, though I never finished it.  But it was a John Irving novel, so it must have had hotel management, prostitutes, bears, wrestling,

Title for the Pitch Perfect sequel?  Pitch Perfecter.  Or maybe they can combine it with the next Johnny Depp pirate thing.  Patch Perfect.

In fact there's a first-name-Harris connected with P&R -  Harris Wittels, who writes and sometimes appears as a Pawnee person (named Harris)… and also Aziz Ansari has a pretty funny standup bits about his stupid cousin Harris.
