Look, the original cut of Highlander 2 came up with the only fathomable explanation for a group of immortals trying to chop each other's heads off: they're alien renegades exiled from the planet Zeist. You mess with that, you obviously deny the fundamentals of good story logic.

Finally got around to Ship Breaker a couple of months ago. Good book, though the conclusion strained a little too much to wrap things up neatly and give the main characters a happy ending. My favorite part was turning on the subtitles to find out that he was saying, "Oor-aar!" That might be slightly off since it's been a few days since I watched it, but seeing inarticulate British hobo noise rendered as words—those words—pretty much made my day.
