I figured it would from an appropriate ballet, but was too lazy to look it up. Marionette high-five!

I was reminded of the 1994 remake of Frankenstein at first (when Victor brought Elizabeth back to "life"), but got a read Edward Scissorhands vibe from all the spindly levers, pulleys, wheels etc. and the almost-creepy music. Awesome job from everyone involved.

It also shows up in some of David Gemmell's novels, for any fans of British heroic fantasy out there. Probably Waylander III and The Hawk Eternal, Google informs me.
