This somewhat true but Albini has no reason to doubt the story that the producers were looking for a electronic effect to create a hook in the song, and have emphatically stated that Cher's voice was killing all by itself. Albini himself states that even when working with these guys, he avoided asking them about it.

How The West Was Won is far superior. LZ thought that the show recorded for TSRTS was awful and parts of it had to be dubbed due to a production mistake.

I only read these just so I can have enough insight to say that I hate this feature. It is so wrong to have one artist hating on another artist's creations. Albini would have been the sage of Auto-tune if he thought to use it on a Big Black song first. Then he would have railed on anyone that would have copied it.
